Have a look at the Grade 7 math lesson on 3d Geometry.
Lesson Title: Top, Front and Side Views of Cube Structures
Unit Title: 3D Geometry
Subject: Math
Grade: 7
|
Learning Goals: Recognize and sketch the top, back, front and side views of cube structures
|
Specific Expectations:
Students will:
|
Instructional Strategies: In groups, students will be using cubes, graph paper, ipads and a building mat to help them identify the top, back, front and side views of cube structures. Students are to take notes, discuss and give each other feedback.

Instruction
Introduction: Yesterday we learned about building an object with nets. Today, we will be looking at the top, front and side views of cube structures.
Using Socrative, students will be asked a set of questions on 2D/3D shapes and nets. Students can use their cell phones/ipads to sign into their accounts and have a Space Race with the class. All questions will be based on what we learned yesterday. Once the race is done, students will have an opportunity to discuss with their peers.
|
Lesson Steps: In partners, once the Space Race is done, students will use the ipads to find blueprints of buildings and discuss together what they think the top, front and side views of the building are. Students are then to create cube structures to help them better identify each view.
|
Conclusion: As a class, we will summarize the main ideas from what we discovered through our research. Students will have the opportunity to show their blueprints and cube structures to the class.
